SiC Ceramic Flat Sheet Membrane filtration

The high flux submersible SiC Ceramic Flat Sheet Membrane filtration are designed for submerged outside-in-filtration applications and provide an extremely high tolerance towards upstream upsets.
The innovative SiC Ceramic Flat Sheet Membrane is intended for reducing high concentration of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) present in the effluent down to levels suitable for safe operation of downstream Reverse Osmosis.
The process involves dosing of catalyst based on Manganese (new Ovivo – Chemical formulation product: Ovivo-Persol™) for catalytic decomposition of H2O2.
The stream with fine process particles (SiO2) and particles formed in the reaction (Manganese) is then filtrated out with immersed ceramic silicon carbide (SiC) Flat sheet membranes with pore size of <0.1 µm (ultrafiltration), without using any flocculant. The filtration step insures a stable operation and prevents fouling of the downflow reverse osmosis plant. It should also prevent from biofouling of the downflow reverse osmosis membranes.

Ovivo developed and now launched two products in combination with this solution:

  • Ovivo- PersolTM (Manganese based Catalyst solution for H2O2 removal)
  • Ovivo SiC- UFTM membrane modules and racks (own Ovivo Design), with non-metallic materials to prevent any corrosion in such highly corrosive media.

Application areas:

  • Surface water, Ground water filtration
  • Wastewater
  • Reclaim Water  (Incl. HF )
  • Pre- treatment to RO

Advantages Offered by the Filtration Rack

  • Lowest foot print for any FSM Technology
  • Modules individually replaceable
  • Each module is steel frame encapsulated for membrane protection and maximal usage of air scouring
  • Flexible design for easy add or removal of single module
  • Rack equipped with integrated air scouring system providing maximal flux, permeate and backwash pipes
